A design-forward Airstream and cabin retreat on the banks of the Virgin River, just minutes from the red-rock cliffs of Zion.
AutoCamp Zion occupies a 16-acre property along the Virgin River in Virgin, Utah, roughly 20 minutes west of the Springdale entrance to Zion National Park. Opened in May 2023, the property translates the brand’s signature outdoor hospitality into the red-rock landscape of southern Utah, traditional homeland of the Southern Paiute (Nuwuvi) people. The architectural centerpiece is the modern clubhouse designed by global firm HKS, which features clean mid-century lines, expansive glass walls, and a low-slung profile that blends into the surrounding desert. Inside, Shannon Niehenke of Narrative Design Studio curated the interiors using a warm, earthy palette of plaster, sand, and rust tones, complemented by bespoke local craftsmanship. Guests gather around the indoor fireplace on custom furniture designed by Alexis Moran, sit in mixed-material chairs by Casamidy, and admire custom millwork fabricated by Salt Lake City-based Project Sunday.
The property features 72 custom-built, 31-foot Airstream suites lined up in neat rows, alongside modern cabins and canvas tents. Each polished aluminum Airstream is designed to maximize comfort in the desert, featuring a bedroom with a queen bed set beneath a curved panoramic window, a sitting area with a sofa that converts into a double bed, and a compact kitchenette. The private bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, outfitted with walk-in rain showers, vanities, and Ursa Major bath products. Outside, every suite has its own private, hardscaped patio equipped with a dining table, chairs, and a wood-burning fire pit with a built-in grill grate. For travelers requiring more space, the modern X Suite cabins provide a separate bedroom and full living area, while the Basecamp suites pair an Airstream with an adjacent luxury canvas tent to sleep up to six guests.
Communal life at the property centers around the clubhouse and its immediate surroundings, which include an outdoor swimming pool and a larger shared fire pit. The Kitchen, located inside the clubhouse, serves a seasonal menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, starting each morning with complimentary granola, coffee, and tea. An adjacent general store is stocked with local craft beers, chilled wines, artisanal cheese boards, and curated grill kits that guests can cook over their private fire pits. Active amenities include mountain bike rentals for exploring local trails, and the property is dog-friendly, allowing pets for a standard fee. In 2024, the property integrated with the Hilton Honors program, allowing travelers to book stays and redeem points at this desert outpost.
Skip packing heavy firewood: the property's general store is fully stocked with local logs, custom grill kits, and gourmet s'mores ingredients for your private fire pit.
