The Coeur d'Alene Resort stands as an 18-story landmark on the north shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene, its glass and concrete towers rising 216 feet above the water. Originally opened in 1965 as the modest North Shore Resort, the property was acquired in 1983 by Duane Hagadone and Jerry Jaeger of Hagadone Hospitality. Following a massive reconstruction, the expanded resort debuted in May 1986, instantly transforming the former timber and mining town into a premier lakeside destination. Today, the resort features 338 upscale guest rooms and suites, many of which were updated in a comprehensive 25 million dollar renovation. Guest accommodations in the Lake Tower offer sprawling views of the deep blue water, completed with stone fireplaces, private balconies, and deep soaking tubs that invite relaxation after a day on the lake.

The resort's most famous feature is its 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Scott Miller and opened in 1991. Golfers arrive at the course via a seven-minute ride across the water in a sleek, custom-crafted mahogany water taxi. While the entire park-like course is meticulously manicured and accented by 30,000 red geraniums, the true test lies at the par-three 14th hole. Here, players face the world's only floating, movable island green: a 15,000-square-foot engineering marvel that is adjusted daily via an intricate underwater cable system. The hole plays anywhere from 90 yards to 220 yards, and those who successfully land their ball on the island are shuttled to the green aboard the mahogany boat, Putter, while those who miss must watch divers retrieve their golf balls from the lake bed.

Culinary experiences at the resort center around Beverly's, the signature restaurant located on the seventh floor. Known for holding the largest wine cellar in the Pacific Northwest, Beverly's serves Northwest-fresh cuisine alongside its legendary, sweet-and-tart orange rolls, a recipe developed by long-time executive chef Rod Jessick. On the lobby level, Dockside Restaurant serves classic American fare and is famous for its towering, multi-scoop Gooey sundaes. To complete the lakeside retreat, the resort features a 30,000-square-foot spa, which offers forest-infused treatments, mineral-rich baths, and quiet relaxation rooms overlooking the private marina, where custom wooden boats bob gently against the docks.
