Pescadero Creek Inn

Historic farmhouse B&B on the banks of Pescadero Creek. Antique-filled rooms, lush gardens, and Harley Farms just down the street.

Pescadero Creek Inn occupies a century-old farmhouse on Stage Road, originally built in 1905 and restored by owners Ken and Penny Donnelly. After discovering the dilapidated property during a summer bicycle ride, the couple spent years renovating the white clapboard structure before welcoming their first guests in 2003. Today, the inn stands as a quiet sanctuary on over three acres along the banks of Pescadero Creek, just a short walk from the historic downtown. The front entrance, marked by a rustic wooden arbor adorned with rooster silhouettes, leads into a main parlor defined by high ceilings, original hardwood floors, and a massive stone fireplace where guests gather for morning coffee.

The accommodations are limited to just four distinct quarters, each styled with period antiques, queen-sized down feather beds, and private bathrooms featuring antique clawfoot tubs. Inside the main farmhouse, three interior guest rooms offer a cozy, historic ambiance with views of the surrounding gardens and the coastal hills. For those seeking additional privacy, the detached Garden Cottage sits just off the main building. This cottage features its own private deck overlooking the perennial creek, an organic vegetable patch, and expansive flower fields where the inn’s resident horses, Scout and Otto, can often be seen grazing in the pasture.

Beyond the rooms, the property’s grounds encourage slow, unstructured days spent outdoors. Guests can relax in hammocks strung beside the flowing creek, lounge on the spacious wooden decks, or wander through the gardens that burst with seasonal blooms. While the coastal fog frequently rolls in to blanket the valley in the mornings, it typically burns off by midday, revealing the agricultural landscape of the San Mateo coast. The inn's location provides an ideal base for exploring the nearby Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, the towering redwoods of Butano State Park, and the historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse, all while remaining within walking distance of local landmarks like Duarte's Tavern and Harley Farms Goat Dairy.

Basecamp Tip

Walk down Stage Road to Duarte's Tavern for their famous half-and-half soup (half artichoke, half green chile) and a slice of olallieberry pie.
