Gravity Haus Truckee

An eco-conscious adventure lodge near downtown Truckee featuring a premium gear library, co-working space, and locally sourced dining at Stella.

Gravity Haus Truckee-Tahoe occupies the eco-structure of the former Cedar House Sport Hotel on Brockway Road, just a mile from the historic core of downtown Truckee. Conceptualized by founders Jim and Alicia Deters, the property serves as a modern lodge and adventure club designed to bridge the gap between boutique hospitality and active mountain culture. The building itself is a testament to sustainable architecture, constructed from recycled and green materials with a design that blends heavy timbers, exposed steel, and native stone. Inside, the aesthetic is clean and modern, featuring cozy nooks, leather seating, and large-scale nature photography by Karen Hutton. Rather than acting as a passive lodging option, the hotel operates as an active basecamp where overnight guests and club members share the same communal spaces, creating a lively, purposeful energy from dawn until long after sunset.

The property is engineered around the logistics of outdoor recreation, anchored by the Haus Quiver gear library. Through this service, guests use the brand's mobile app to reserve premium seasonal equipment, including Specialized mountain bikes, stand-up paddleboards, and high-performance skis, bypassing the traditional rental shop hassle. Morning routines center around Unravel Coffee, which serves sustainably sourced, direct-trade Ethiopian beans roasted in-house using a zero-emissions Bellwether roaster. For those balancing remote work with trail time, StarterHaus provides a fully equipped co-working space complete with hot desks, phone booths, and high-speed internet. After a long day on the slopes of nearby Palisades Tahoe or Northstar, recovery takes place at the Dryland Fitness center, which features an outdoor hot tub, a sauna, and a cold plunge pool surrounded by towering pines.

Dining at Stella, the on-site restaurant, brings a localized, culinary focus to the property. Led by Executive Chef Lupe Solis, a Truckee native who has helmed the kitchen for over a decade, Stella features an open kitchen and garden patios where guests gather for hearty breakfasts and seasonally driven dinners. Solis partners with local purveyors like the Tahoe Food Hub to craft a menu influenced by Mediterranean and Mexican flavors, utilizing a wood-fired oven and smoker to prepare dishes like smoked wings with ancho barbecue sauce and house-made hummus with spicy green zhug. Upstairs, the 42 guest rooms, including the Idlewild suite and the Powderhound rooms, are designed for deep rest. Each room features premium Wink mattresses, Parachute cotton bedding, walk-in stone showers, and in-room steeped Unravel coffee, ensuring that the transition from a day of intense physical effort to deep recovery is seamless.

Basecamp Tip

Skip the rental lines and reserve your mountain bikes or demo skis through the Haus Quiver app before you arrive. For dinner, secure a table at Stella to try Chef Lupe Solis's wood-fired, Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
