Leavenworth KOA / Icicle River RV Resort & Campground

Settle into a forested, 50-acre retreat along the Icicle River, where private beaches and cozy cabins sit just three miles from Leavenworth's Bavarian center.

Icicle River RV Resort & Campground has welcomed travelers to the banks of the Icicle River since its founding in 1946. Although sometimes confused or grouped with the Leavenworth KOA, which is a separate franchise located east of town on the Wenatchee River, this independent, family-owned resort is situated southwest of town in the heart of Icicle Canyon. The canyon is the ancestral homeland of the p'squosa (Wenatchi) people, who traditionally called this narrow, glacier-carved valley na-sik-elt. Spanning 50 acres of dense ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forest, the park sits three miles southwest of downtown Leavenworth, offering a peaceful alternative to the busy streets of the Bavarian-themed village. The property is designed to feel like a natural park within a park, where the clear, glacier-fed waters of the Icicle River run directly through the center of the grounds. Guests can choose from over 75 RV sites, which include spacious pull-through options and premium riverfront spots with full hookups, 30-amp or 50-amp electrical service, and cable television connections. For those traveling without an RV, the resort features 11 cozy cabins, ranging from rustic, dry camper cabins with simple beds to fully furnished kitchen cabins equipped with modern appliances, private bathrooms, and covered porches that look out toward the water.

The resort's amenities balance rustic outdoor living with convenient comforts, featuring clean restrooms, free hot showers, laundry facilities, and a communal outdoor hot tub. Two large covered pavilions serve as gathering spaces for RV clubs and families, while a grassy playfield is equipped with horseshoe pits and cornhole boards. A small camp store at the resort office stocks basic supplies, firewood, ice, snacks, and local information. One of the property's unique advantages is its location directly adjacent to the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort, a historic eco-resort established by local philanthropist Harriet Bullitt. Guests can easily walk from their campsites to access Sleeping Lady's paved woodland paths, organic gardens, and celebrated dining options, including O'Grady's Pantry for fresh pastries and the Kingfisher Restaurant for Northwest-inspired dinners. The public 18-hole Leavenworth Golf Course is also located just two miles down the road, providing another recreation option close to camp.

Operating seasonally from April through the third weekend of October, the campground serves as a prime base camp for exploring the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The legendary Snow Lakes Trailhead, which serves as the demanding entry point for hikers heading into the Enchantments, is located just a short drive up Icicle Road. Other nearby hikes include the gentler Icicle Gorge Trail and the steep switchbacks of the Icicle Ridge Trail. During the warm summer months, the resort's private river beach becomes a popular spot for wading, fly-fishing for trout, or simply relaxing on the sun-warmed granite stones as the river flows past. In the early autumn, the surrounding valley turns brilliant shades of gold as the alpine larches change color, drawing hikers from across the Pacific Northwest. While the campground closes before the deep winter snows arrive, its late-season operation provides a perfect, quiet lodging option for visitors looking to experience Leavenworth's autumn festivals and early-season mountain air.

Basecamp Tip

Walk right next door to the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort for a morning coffee and huckleberry scone at O'Grady's Pantry. You can enjoy your treats on their outdoor patio surrounded by native plants before heading out to hike the nearby Icicle Gorge Trail.
