An independent Bozeman coffee roastery serving organic single-origin coffees and house-made syrups across three cozy cafes.
Ghost Town Coffee Roasters began in Bozeman in 2006 under the name Crema Roasting, founded by Chad Kimm and Clarissa Englehart. Rebranded as Ghost Town Coffee Roasters in 2012, the company has grown from a dedicated wholesale operation into one of the Gallatin Valley's most respected specialty coffee brands. Kimm and Englehart built the business with a focus on equitable buying and direct-trade relationships, sourcing certified organic coffees with social, economic, and agricultural responsibility. They operate as a Certified Organic Handler through the Montana Department of Agriculture, ensuring that every batch of single-origin beans and signature blends supports sustainable farming practices globally. This commitment to equitable trading ensures that growers from Sumatra to Central America receive fair market prices for their harvests.
The heart of the operation is the Bridger Center Cafe and wholesale roastery, located at 104 Bridger Center Drive, just a short walk from Story Mill Park. This flagship space serves as both a lively retail cafe and the central roasting facility. Here, a classic blue Diedrich roaster, which has turned out over a million pounds of coffee, operates alongside a newer, larger machine to supply both retail patrons and regional wholesale accounts. The cafe interior features an industrial-modern design, highlighted by an orange garage door that rolls open in the summer, reclaimed wood suspended above the bar, and local nature photography by Elias Gossack on the walls. The aroma of roasting coffee fills the air, creating a sensory connection to the craft.
In addition to the Bridger Center headquarters, Ghost Town operates two distinct downtown Bozeman outposts. The Black Olive Cafe, opened in 2020 at 110 East Olive Street, sits on the corner of Black Avenue and Olive Street, offering a cozy downtown retreat with comfortable leather chairs facing the windows and a spacious side room. The One 11 Cafe, opened in late 2023 at 110 West Beall Street, occupies a bright corner of the historic One 11 Building at Beall and Willson. Across all three locations, the drink menu centers on expertly pulled espresso, precise pour-overs, and signature seasonal lattes made with house-prepared syrups. To accompany the drinks, Ghost Town partners with local Bozeman purveyors, serving fresh daily pastries from Wild Crumb and hearty breakfast burritos, making each cafe a vital community gathering space.
Try the Velvet Thunder blend, their signature medium-dark roast combining Indonesian and African beans, and pair it with a fresh pastry from Wild Crumb.
