Leavenworth Tiny House Village

Retreat to a colorful, Bavarian-themed tiny home in the Cascade Mountains, situated within a quiet forested resort north of Leavenworth.

Leavenworth Tiny House Village, a collection of five custom-built micro-homes, sits within the Thousand Trails Leavenworth RV Resort along Chiwawa Loop Road. Located near the quiet community of Plain, Washington, this pocket-sized neighborhood is roughly thirty minutes north of downtown Leavenworth’s Bavarian-themed tourist center. Developed by Petite Retreats, the village consists of five distinct dwellings built by the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, each painted in its own bright color scheme to complement the alpine landscape. These homes, named Belle, Adeline, Hanna, Rudolf, and Otto, range from 181 to over 300 square feet, offering a concentrated dose of mountain living that pairs traditional German cottage aesthetics with modern, space-efficient design.

The architecture of each tiny home showcases creative engineering designed to maximize every inch of floor space. Belle and Rudolf are built on Tumbleweed’s Elm model, characterized by classic gabled roofs and tiny front porches. Inside, guests navigate compact galley kitchens equipped with electric cooktops, microwaves, and small refrigerators, though there are no ovens. Sleeping arrangements are primarily located in low-clearance lofts, accessible via steep, narrow wooden staircases where mattresses sit directly on the carpeted loft floor. Hanna, the smallest of the group at 181 square feet, is built on the Linden model and sleeps only two guests in a single lofted queen bed, featuring a noticeably smaller under-counter refrigerator. In contrast, the larger models like Adeline, which is situated closest to the resort's small lake, and Otto, a Cypress model measuring 287 square feet, utilize clever built-in twin beds on the main floor and convertible futons to accommodate up to four or five guests.

Outside the individual homes, the village layout encourages a communal, camp-like atmosphere while maintaining private pockets. Each home is equipped with its own outdoor charcoal grill and a personal wooden picnic table, while a shared central fire pit serves as the main gathering point for evening stargazing. Because the village is integrated into the larger 300-acre Thousand Trails property, guests have direct access to resort amenities like Alpine Trout Lake and Otter Pond, where paddle boating and kayaking are popular during the summer months, as well as over seven miles of onsite hiking and cross-country ski trails. To maintain a peaceful environment and protect the local wildlife, the tiny house village enforces a strict no-pets policy, meaning dogs must stay at home.

Basecamp Tip

While the tiny houses face the resort’s peaceful Alpine Trout Pond, you can access the property's seven miles of private trails just steps from your front door. For a quiet morning walk, follow the path around the pond toward the Meadow View section of the resort, bringing a thermos of coffee to enjoy on one of the viewing platforms. In the evening, make the thirty-minute drive into downtown Leavenworth to fill a growler at Icicle Brewing Company, then head back to enjoy it by the communal fire pit shared by the five tiny homes.
