An updated historic mountain lodge in the heart of Mazama, featuring cozy timber rooms, private cabins, a pool, and co-working spaces.
The Inn at Mazama, historically known as the Mazama Country Inn, stands as a cornerstone of the upper Methow Valley. First built in 1984 by Cal and Ann Merriman, the lodge was conceived as a simple, functional outpost for the early wave of cross-country skiers and backcountry explorers discovering this corner of the Okanogan. In 1994, the property was purchased by Bill Pope and his partners, who managed and expanded the inn for 26 years before selling it in August 2020 to Jim and Victoria Grady under Goat Inn LLC. The Gradys embarked on a major revitalization of the property, rebranding it as The Inn at Mazama and remodeling the main lodge to introduce modern comforts while retaining its classic Pacific Northwest timber character.
The main lodge houses 18 guest rooms designed around the concept of a quiet, unplugged retreat. Standard rooms, which carry names like Aspen, Pine, Cedar, Birch, and Fir, have been refreshed with updated furnishings, tiled showers, and private decks or garden access. For a more spacious stay, the four connected Evergreen Rooms represent the most premium accommodations, equipped with king beds, queen-sized sleeper sofas, propane fireplaces, mini-fridges, and covered decks. To encourage guests to fully disconnect, none of the lodge rooms contain televisions or telephones, though high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Beyond the main lodge, the inn manages a portfolio of more than 15 private vacation rentals known as the Cabins of the Methow, which includes pet-friendly options and modern architectural additions like the Cedar Falls Cabin and Cutthroat Lake Cabin, both completed in May 2024.
The heart of the lodge is its great room, where guests gather around a massive Russian stone fireplace. The property features a wealth of amenities that cater to active travelers, including an outdoor swimming pool open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, a year-round outdoor hot tub, tennis and pickleball courts, and a communal fire pit that burns from November through April. The clubhouse has also been updated to include a yoga studio alongside private offices and co-working spaces available for daily rental. While the dining room historically focused on family-style winter packages, it now hosts a popular Sunday brunch featuring dishes by chef Eric Schade and caters private group events. For daily meals, guests are just a short walk from the artisan bakery at the historic Mazama Store and the craft taps at the Mazama Public House. On-site infrastructure includes four Juicer EV charging stations to support road-tripping travelers.
Book one of the four premium Evergreen Rooms for a private deck and propane fireplace, and make sure to utilize the on-site co-working spaces if you need to stay connected while off the grid.
