Shore Lodge

A historic 1948 lakefront lodge on Payette Lake featuring 77 suites, three distinct dining venues, and a boulder-lined saltwater spa.

Shore Lodge has anchored the southern shore of Payette Lake since 1948, serving as a premier mountain retreat in McCall, Idaho. Situated at an elevation of 5,000 feet, the historic lodge blends classic mid-century log architecture with modern lakeside luxury. The main building features heavy timber framing, exposed log accents, and a massive stone fireplace in the lobby, which is famously watched over by a mounted moose bust. With 77 guest suites, the property provides a lakeside sanctuary that feels deeply connected to the surrounding Salmon River Mountains while maintaining a highly curated, self-contained resort experience. Originally opened as a public resort, the property underwent a brief period as a private club before reopening to the public, restoring its legacy as a beloved gathering place in west-central Idaho.

The accommodations at the lodge are designed to highlight the lakeside setting, ranging from garden-view rooms to expansive Lake Front and Fireside Suites, some of which open directly onto the private sandy beach. Inside, the design emphasizes rich textures, warm wood floors, and polished marble accents. Dining at the lodge is a central draw, highlighted by The Narrows Steakhouse, an upscale establishment offering premium cuts, fresh seafood, and a curated wine list against a backdrop of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. For more casual fare, guests gather at The Cutwater on Payette Lake, an all-day restaurant known for its lakefront patio and hearty breakfasts, or head to The Bar for elevated pub fare and signature cocktails like the Shore Fashioned.

Wellness and recreation are anchored by The Cove, the resort's signature full-service spa. The spa features indoor and outdoor saltwater immersion pools crafted from 68,000 pounds of local granite boulders, designed to evoke the experience of natural Idaho hot springs. Outside, the lodge's private marina serves as a launchpad for summer adventures, offering rentals for pontoon boats, kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards. In the winter, the resort provides a convenient shuttle to nearby Brundage Mountain for skiing. Back on the property, guests can relax in the year-round heated outdoor pool, soak in the lakeside hot tubs, or gather around the beach fire pits for complimentary nightly s'mores. On the lower level, a 43-seat movie theater, known as the Ford Theater, hosts regular screenings, while the Tank game room provides indoor entertainment. Golfers also enjoy exclusive playing privileges at the adjacent Whitetail Club, which features an acclaimed 18-hole championship course designed by Andy North.
