Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa sits on a 240-acre stretch of green alfalfa fields and red rock pasture along a dramatic bend of the Colorado River, located at Mile 17 on Utah Highway 128. The property's history began in 1903, when homesteaders Fred and Ida Stearns claimed 160 acres of untamed territory, building a modest two-room farmhouse that still stands on the resort grounds today. Ida Gulch, a nearby canyon feature, still carries Ida's name. After decades as a working farm under the Boulden family, the land was purchased in 1994 by Robbie Levin, a former bass guitarist for Rick Springfield, who envisioned a luxury oasis that would harmonize with the towering Entrada Sandstone cliffs. Opened in 1999 and currently owned by Elizabeth Rad, the resort balances traditional ranch hospitality with refined, modern comforts.
The resort features 59 custom-built cabins, studios, and suites, alongside the expansive Ranch House Estate. Ranging from 400 to 1,000 square feet, these accommodations are crafted with heavy timber beams, slate tiles, and cathedral ceilings that frame massive windows facing the Colorado River or the red rock mesas of Professor Valley.
