A premium, big-rig friendly RV resort in Greenfield, featuring level concrete pads, a heated pool, and upscale amenities near the Santa Lucia Highlands.
Yanks RV Resort is a meticulously planned RV destination located in Greenfield, California, right off Highway 101 at Exit 295 on Thorne Road. The resort represents the first completed phase of an ambitious, 131 acre master planned development envisioned by founders Charles and Judith Nichols. In 1988, the Nichols family purchased the 440 acre Bill Hanson Ranch in Monterey County with the long term vision of establishing a second location for the Yanks Air Museum, which houses one of the largest private collections of World War II aircraft in the world at its primary facility in Chino, California. The Greenfield property was chosen to accommodate a massive aviation themed destination, which is slated to eventually include museum hangars, a 4,250 foot runway for private and museum flight operations, a boutique hotel, restaurants, and wine tasting facilities. Opened in May 2013, the RV resort serves as a high end anchor for this future development, offering travelers a clean, modern basecamp in the heart of the Salinas Valley.
The resort layout features 110 big rig friendly sites designed with a focus on ease of access and premium comfort. Paved streets lead to level, polished concrete pads and patios, bordered by manicured grass lawns and individual picnic tables with barbecue grills. The park offers both pull through and back in options, with the spacious pull through sites stretching up to 100 feet in length, allowing drivers of large motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers to park without unhooking their tow vehicles. Every site is equipped with full hookups, including 30 and 50 amp electrical service, complimentary Wi-Fi, and cable television connections. The design prioritizes generous spacing between rigs, creating a sense of privacy and order that sets it apart from more crowded, traditional roadside RV parks.
Beyond the individual sites, Yanks RV Resort offers an array of upscale amenities that cater to both short term visitors and long term travelers. The central hub features a heated swimming pool and a heated spa, alongside a patio sitting lounge equipped with an outdoor fireplace for cool evening gatherings. Indoors, guests have access to a fully equipped fitness center, a camp store stocked with essentials, and three separate laundry centers. For group events and RV clubs, the resort features a spacious club meeting room complete with a commercial kitchen. Pet owners are especially well accommodated with two dedicated, fenced dog parks and an on-site pet wash station, while families can utilize a children's play area. Its location makes it a highly functional launching pad for exploring the nearby Santa Lucia Highlands wine region, the rugged trails of Pinnacles National Park, and the historic Spanish missions of Monterey County.
Pinnacles National Park gets intensely hot. Use the resort as a morning launchpad, hitting the trails at sunrise to see condors and finishing before noon. Spend afternoons wine tasting in the cooler Santa Lucia Highlands or relaxing by the resort pool.
