Ofland Escalante, formerly known as Yonder Escalante, occupies a 20-acre desert property that was once a classic roadside drive-in movie theater and RV park along Utah Route 12. Rebranded in early 2024 to reflect its nature-focused philosophy, the boutique glamping resort blends mid-century nostalgia with modern design. The property honors its cinematic heritage with an active outdoor drive-in theater where guests can watch classic films from the seats of nine restored 1960s convertible cars while enjoying complimentary popcorn. At the heart of the resort is an open-air clubhouse pavilion featuring a general store stocked with local provisions, curated vinyl records for the communal turntable, and pre-packaged meal kits designed for open-flame cooking.
Accommodations, designed by ROY Hospitality Design and Anacapa Architecture, offer varying levels of comfort while maintaining a minimalist, desert-inspired aesthetic. Guests can choose from ten fully renovated vintage Airstream trailers outfitted with custom millwork, leather detailing, and kitchenettes, or twenty-two custom-designed cabins with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that frame the surrounding red rock cliffs. In addition to these original options, the resort features ten deluxe cabins measuring 385 square feet. These larger units include en-suite bathrooms with marble-top double vanities, lighted mirrors, and private, outdoor heated showers. For traditional road trippers, the property also provides spacious RV sites and campsites with access to all communal amenities.
The resort's shared facilities elevate the camping experience with spa-like touches. The main bathhouses feature exposed timber beams, heated concrete floors, Dyson hair dryers, and private outdoor showers that look out toward the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Evenings center around a large pool and hot tub, which are heated year-round, as well as the individual fire pits located at every lodging site. Guests can purchase gourmet dinner boxes containing ribeye steaks, skewers, or vegetarian options from the camp store, complete with all necessary spices and utensils to cook over their personal fires. A dedicated food truck is also on-site, serving breakfast and dinner to visitors returning from day hikes in the nearby slot canyons.
