Black Tooth Brewing Company began in November 2010 as a humble ten-barrel brewhouse and taproom in downtown Sheridan, Wyoming. Co-founded by Tim Barnes and head brewer Travis Zeilstra, the brewery occupies a cavernous, renovated former auto dealership and mechanic's garage at 312 Broadway Street. The space retains its rugged, western-industrial character, featuring large garage doors that roll open on warm days to connect the interior with a bustling outdoor patio. Named after Black Tooth Mountain, a 13,014-foot peak in the nearby Bighorn range, the brewery has grown from its modest local roots into one of the most highly awarded craft beer producers in the Rocky Mountain West.
The Sheridan headquarters underwent a major multi-million-dollar expansion in 2015, installing a state-of-the-art Sprinkman thirty-barrel, four-vessel brewhouse and a high-capacity canning line. This development allowed Black Tooth to scale its production significantly, extending its distribution footprint across Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado. Despite this regional growth, which includes sister taprooms in Cheyenne and Casper, the Sheridan facility remains the heart of the operation.
