Jenny Lake Lodge

Jenny Lake Lodge

Jenny Lake Lodge

Historic 1920s log cabins at the base of the Tetons. The most exclusive, all-inclusive address in Grand Teton National Park.

Jenny Lake Lodge began its life in the early 1920s as the Danny Ranch, a humble dude ranch established by Tony Grace before being acquired by John D. Rockefeller Jr.'s Snake River Land Company in 1929. The surrounding lake and lodge bear the name of Jenny, the Shoshone wife of British fur trapper Richard 'Beaver Dick' Leigh, who guided early expeditions through the valley. Today, the property operates as an elegant, all-inclusive retreat of thirty-seven historic log cabins scattered among the tall lodgepole pines at the base of the Teton Range, known to the Shoshone as Teewinot. These individual cabins, built with hand-hewn logs and classic notched corners, preserve the rustic aesthetic of early twentieth-century Wyoming dude ranches while providing modern comforts. Guests sleep under thick, heavy blankets surrounded by robust timber walls, hand-crafted wooden furniture, and private porches that look out onto quiet, dew-covered meadows where elk and moose occasionally wander. To maintain a peaceful, unplugged connection to the wilderness, the cabins are intentionally kept free of televisions and air conditioning.

Dining at the lodge is a centerpiece of the stay, centered around a historic 1930s log cabin dining room illuminated by heavy iron chandeliers. The culinary program features a nightly rotating, five-course prix fixe dinner that is widely regarded as one of the finest dining experiences in any national park. The kitchen sources fresh ingredients from the Jackson Farmers' Market and regional purveyors to craft dishes like honey-cured quail, parsnip risotto, cherry bourbon-glazed wild boar, and rack of lamb, all paired with selections from an extensive wine list. Breakfast is equally celebrated, eschewing standard buffets for a made-to-order menu featuring signature dishes like maple crisp waffles served with homemade huckleberry butter, perfect for fueling a day on the trails.

The daily rhythm at the lodge is shaped by classic western leisure, with rates that include a suite of curated activities. Guests can borrow cruiser-style bicycles to ride along the paved multi-use pathway that skirts the edge of Jenny Lake, or join the lodge wranglers for a guided horseback ride through quiet aspen groves. Afternoons often feature relaxed pastimes like "Wine and Wickets," a casual croquet game on the lawn accompanied by wine pairings. Evenings return to a slower pace, marked by the casual elegance of the dining room where jackets are suggested for dinner, followed by stargazing under the dark, unpolluted Wyoming sky.

Basecamp Tip

Rates are all-inclusive, covering your cabin, a made-to-order gourmet breakfast, and the nightly five-course dinner. Book a late breakfast seating after an early morning hike, and be sure to reserve your guided horseback ride with the wranglers at check-in, as spots are highly limited.
