An expanded, design-forward motor court in downtown Jackson with gear-friendly bunk rooms, dual pools, and a lively social hub.
Mountain Modern Motel occupies a full city block in downtown Jackson, Wyoming, having doubled its footprint in late 2022 through the acquisition and integration of the neighboring Jackson Hole Lodge. Designed by the Burlington, Vermont-based architecture firm TruexCullins, the 194-room property departs from the heavy, taxidermy-laden aesthetic of traditional mountain lodges in favor of a playful, high-functioning layout inspired by the tiny-home movement. The exterior retains the classic low-slung, multi-building footprint of a mid-century motor court, while the interiors are defined by clean lines, warm wood tones, and bold graphics. Large-scale wall coverings depicting fly-fishing scenes on the Snake River or backcountry skiers in the Tetons dominate the guest rooms, accented by pops of bright red buffalo plaid that pay homage to traditional Western workwear.
The accommodations are tailored specifically for gear-heavy travelers, utilizing custom wall-mounted gear racks to keep skis, snowboards, fly rods, and hiking boots organized and off the floor. Room configurations range from standard king and double-queen layouts to high-density bunk rooms featuring twin-over-queen platform beds, full kitchen studios, and expansive two-story, two-bedroom residential suites that sleep up to eight guests and include fireplaces and private balconies. Instead of standard hotel closets, open-shelving units and under-bed storage maximize the physical space. Modern conveniences are woven throughout the property, including a 24-hour text-message concierge service to handle guest requests and coordinate local recommendations, and complimentary gear-tuning and bike-repair stations located on-site.
Social spaces are anchored by The Triple M, a central hub that serves as a coffee shop, marketplace, and lounge. Guests gather here around indoor fireplaces or outdoor fire pits to order morning specialties like huckleberry waffles, cowboy croissants, and ranchero breakfast burritos, or to grab local beers and seasonal cocktails during the afternoon happy hour. The property also hosts two independent on-site dining options: Big Hole BBQ, which serves slow-smoked meats, and BAPP, Jackson's first dedicated Korean restaurant. For relaxation after a day in the backcountry, the motel features dual swimming pools (one indoor and one heated outdoor pool) along with two common hot tubs. Complimentary shuttles connect guests directly to the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, making the motel a highly functional basecamp.
Skip the morning rush in town and grab a huckleberry waffle or cowboy croissant at The Triple M, the motel's on-site social hub, before catching the free ski shuttle directly from the property.
