An adventure retreat at the base of Snow Canyon, offering red rock lodging, guided hikes, and access to neighboring resort amenities.
Red Mountain Resort occupies 55 acres of black lava rock and desert gardens in Ivins, Utah, positioned at the base of Snow Canyon State Park. For decades, this destination has served as a quiet sanctuary for those looking to immerse themselves in the red rock landscapes of Greater Zion. The low-rise, brown stucco buildings of the property house 82 desert oasis rooms and 24 multi-bedroom villas, designed with earthy tones and eco-friendly materials that blend into the surrounding terrain. Guests wake up to views of towering rust-colored sandstone cliffs and ancient volcanic flows, with the scent of native pinyon pine and sun-baked earth filling the morning air.
The resort has recently entered a transformative new chapter under the ownership of Reef Capital Partners and the management of CoralTree Hospitality. This transition has integrated the classic property with the expansive amenities of the neighboring Black Desert Resort. While guests continue to enjoy the quiet, secluded lodging of Red Mountain, they now have full access to the modern facilities across the street. This includes the championship 19-hole Black Desert Resort Golf Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, as well as multiple outdoor pools, a convention center, and a variety of new dining venues.
As part of this evolution, the historic Sagestone Spa, which was originally housed in one of the property's geodesic domes, has closed. Wellness services have moved to the state-of-the-art Plume Spa & Wellness across the street. This new facility features advanced recovery therapies, including a Longevity Lounge with cryotherapy and hyperbaric chambers, alongside traditional treatments like the Ancient Sea Remineralizing Massage. Dining options have also expanded from the resort's traditional healthy fare at Canyon Breeze to include Black Desert's upscale restaurants. Guests can now dine at Basalt, which serves elevated regional cuisine, or Latitude, an all-day dining venue with panoramic canyon views. Despite these modern updates, the core of the Red Mountain experience remains focused on outdoor movement, with daily guided hikes through Snow Canyon's sandstone arches and petrified dunes.
Book a treatment at the neighboring Plume Spa and try the Ancient Sea Remineralizing Massage, which uses minerals inspired by Utah's prehistoric waters.
