Rustic Rook Resort is a privately built glamping sanctuary set on 120 acres of high-desert sagebrush in Mosca, Colorado, just 19 miles from the entrance of Great Sand Dunes National Park. Opened in 2020 by owners Annette Ostrander-Fenske and Judah Fenske, the resort was built from the ground up without corporate backing, establishing a car-free layout where guests leave their vehicles in a central lot and haul their gear to their quarters in hand-pulled wagons. The accommodations range from standard canvas safari tents to upcycled metal grain bin villas topped with stargazing loft domes, providing a structured yet rustic immersion in the San Luis Valley. Dining at the resort emphasizes communal, outdoor gathering without the hassle of camp kitchen prep. Every morning begins with complimentary hot breakfast burritos, with fillings ranging from local green chili and bacon to chorizo, pulled pork, or roasted vegetables, paired with hot coffee in the central lobby building constructed in 2022.
