Jackson Hole’s premier high-altitude roasters, serving small-batch specialty coffee and chef-driven breakfast just off the Town Square.
Snake River Roasting Company was founded in 2007 by Ruth Ann Petroff and Mark Barron, born out of a desire to craft specialty coffee that captures the rugged spirit of the Tetons. For years, the company operated primarily as a wholesale roaster, supplying local lodges, cafes, and restaurants with beans meticulously roasted at high altitude. In December 2021, local entrepreneur Mekki Jaidi, founder of the vacation rental company Outpost, acquired the business to preserve its legacy while expanding its reach. Under Jaidi's leadership, the brand opened its first physical storefront in June 2022, transforming the former Jackson Hole Roasters location at 50 West Broadway into a vibrant community hub. The 3,000-square-foot, split-level cafe was renovated by Vera Iconica Architecture, featuring 25-foot-high ceilings, a 750-square-foot cozy loft, a 500-square-foot outdoor patio, and seating for up to 50 guests. Today, the space serves as a central gathering spot just steps from Jackson's historic Town Square, where locals and travelers mingle over exceptional brews.
The coffee at Snake River Roasting Company is crafted by an all-female roasting team led by General Manager Cait Rifkin, alongside lead roasters Mckenzie Weinhold and Amanda Sullivan. Sourcing organic and ethically grown beans from renowned global producers like Daterra Farms in Brazil and the Cafe Femenino cooperative in Peru, the team utilizes two precision Diedrich roasters, an IR12 and an IR12 Auto. Roasting at Jackson Hole's high elevation lowers the boiling point of water, a scientific quirk that allows the roasters to apply heat differently, bringing out the bright, nuanced fruit notes and rich complexities of each bean without bitterness. They roast in the Northern Italian style, producing acclaimed signature blends like the rich Grand Teton, the smooth Roam, and the bold White Spider espresso blend. On the cafe bar, baristas pull shots on a sleek La Marzocco Linea PB espresso machine paired with La Marzocco Swift grinders, alongside a Ground Control batch and cold brewing system that ensures a perfect pour every time.
Beyond the exceptional coffee program, the Broadway cafe features a robust, chef-driven breakfast and lunch menu created in partnership with Provisions JH, led by local chefs Clark Myers and Chas Baki. The kitchen serves up hearty mountain fare made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, perfectly designed to fuel a day of backcountry touring or fly fishing. Standout dishes include the Wake Up Call Burrito, packed with soft scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, longaniza-style sausage, mushrooms, fontina cheese, and a side of sriracha aioli. There is also the OG Breakfast Sandwich, served on a warm kaiser roll with soft scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, gruyere, black pepper aioli, and a choice of savory house-made bison breakfast sausage, thick-cut bacon, or roasted mushrooms. For those with a sweet tooth, the cafe offers a daily rotation of fresh, gourmet cake donuts, including a rich Boston cream and seasonal huckleberry varieties, making it far more than a simple coffee shop, but a true culinary destination in the heart of Jackson.
Pair your morning flat white with one of the daily gourmet cake donuts made by Provisions JH, or grab a bag of the high-altitude roasted Grand Teton blend to take into the backcountry.
