Ten Sleep Brewing Company

A family-run brewery in a converted barn at the base of Signal Cliff, serving crisp ales to local ranchers and canyon climbers.

Ten Sleep Brewing Company operates out of the historic Smith Family Barn, located one mile west of the tiny town of Ten Sleep at the base of the red sandstone face of Signal Cliff. Founded by the Smith family, including Justin Smith, the brewery is a true community effort that transformed a working family barn into a regional gathering place. The taproom is anchored by a unique cherry wood bar built by Cole Smith in the 1970s. Originally kept in the family's Seattle home, the bar was eventually retrieved and installed in the brewery, with its leftover wood famously used to craft rifle stocks. The brewery's playful logo, featuring the youngest son Louie riding a beer keg in front of the barn, sets a relaxed, unpretentious tone for anyone stopping by after a day in the nearby canyon.

The brewing operation focuses on clean, satisfying beers crafted to quench the thirst of local ranchers and visiting rock climbers. The flagship brew is the Speed Goat Golden Ale, an easy-drinking blonde ale brewed with two-row and C-15 malts, Willamette hops, and locally sourced Bryant Honey from nearby Worland, which gives the beer a crisp dryness and a subtle honey finish. Other staples on the tap list include the Outlaw Amber, a highly rated American red ale, the Pack Saddle Porter, and seasonal varieties like the Huck 'n Tuck Wheat and the Worlando Peach Hazy Blonde. Visitors can watch the entire brewing process through large windows inside the taproom while enjoying a pint, or take their drinks outside to the picnic tables on the spacious grass yard.

Beyond serving craft beer, the brewery operates as a lively community hub for the Big Horn Basin. It hosts major regional gatherings, including the annual Ten Sleep Climbers' Festival in late June, organized by the Bighorn Climbers' Coalition, and the Wyoming Singer-Songwriters Finals Festival over Labor Day Weekend. For food, guests can order thin-crust pizzas from Mama Z's Pizza, which operates on-site with over 15 topping options, or grab food from rotating local food trucks that park on the property. Directly adjacent to the brewery is the Barnyard Campground, formerly the brewery's own campground and now managed by David and Amanda Evans, offering simple, rustic camp sites for tents and RVs, making it easy for travelers to stay the night after a few pints under the Wyoming sky.
