Condo-style lodge in the heart of Mammoth's pedestrian village, featuring direct gondola access and a heated outdoor pool.
The Village Lodge is a premier resort complex built in the early 2000s by Intrawest, located at the center of the pedestrian plaza in Mammoth Lakes. Comprising three distinct four-story lodge buildings (White Mountain Lodge, Grand Sierra Lodge, and Lincoln House), the property features a mountain-alpine design characterized by maroon and brown wood siding, steeply pitched gabled roofs, and heavy timber balconies. The ground level of each building is dedicated to a lively mix of retail shops, bars, and restaurants, while the upper three levels house the resort's residential units. This configuration positions guests directly above the village's social core, offering immediate access to the Mountain Center for lift tickets and equipment rentals, as well as the boarding station for the Village Gondola.
Accommodations at the lodge consist of individually owned and decorated condo-style suites, ranging from efficient studios to spacious one, two, and three-bedroom residences. Because these units are privately owned, the interior decor varies, but each is designed to provide a comfortable, residential-style mountain experience. Every condo features a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and appliances, a separate living area with a gas fireplace, and a private balcony, many of which look out over the central events plaza or toward the surrounding pine-covered slopes. The units are designed without air conditioning, relying instead on the cool mountain air and ceiling fans, which is typical of traditional high-altitude Sierra Nevada architecture.
Beyond the individual residences, the lodge provides resort-style amenities designed for relaxation and recreation. A centrally located courtyard houses a large, year-round heated outdoor swimming pool and multiple hot tubs where guests gather for après-ski relaxation. The property also features three fitness centers, a family-friendly arcade and media room, private ski lockers, and heated underground parking. In the winter, the adjacent Village Gondola provides a direct connection to Canyon Lodge, while the Village Ski Back Trail allows skiers to slide directly back to the edge of the property at the end of the day. During the summer, the gondola remains active for scenic rides, and the plaza serves as the primary hub for the town's free shuttle system, connecting visitors to hiking trails, Devils Postpile National Monument, and the Mammoth Bike Park. Dining options within the immediate complex include Shelter Distilling, Gomez's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, and Sushi Rei, ensuring that guests do not need to leave the village grounds for meals or entertainment.
Use the Village Ski Back Trail at the end of a winter day to ski directly back to the edge of the plaza, bypassing the gondola ride down.
