Golden's trailhead brewery. Exploratory craft beers at the base of North Table Mountain.
New Terrain Brewing Company occupies a sprawling, custom-built facility at 16401 Table Mountain Parkway, positioned directly at the eastern base of Golden's North Table Mountain. Founded in 2016 by beer-industry professionals Josh and Kaylee Robbins, the brewery operates on a philosophy of constant experimentation. Josh, who holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, brings a highly scientific approach to the 30-barrel brewhouse, balancing precise technical execution with creative recipe development. The physical space is designed to bridge the gap between outdoor recreation and high-quality brewing, featuring a massive, multi-tiered outdoor beer garden that looks directly out onto the steep, grassy slopes and singletrack trails of the adjacent mesa.
The taproom's beer menu is meticulously organized by flavor profile, moving from light and refreshing to bitter and bright, malty and roasty, and tart and sour. Flagship pours like Golden Haze, a juicy New England-style hazy IPA, and Lost, a classic Colorado IPA, are staples alongside award-winning creations like Suntrip, a Belgian Wit that earned a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival, and Mirage, a Mosaic-hopped sour ale. For those looking to explore beyond traditional styles, the brewers frequently release small-batch experiments, house-made hard seltzers, and seasonal offerings. Inside the main building, the industrial-chic aesthetic features high ceilings, large glass garage doors that roll open on warm afternoons, and a dedicated 1,000-square-foot private event space called the Terminus Room, which hosts community gatherings, private parties, and weekly Monday evening yoga classes.
Outside, the expansive, dog-friendly beer garden functions as a vibrant community hub where hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers congregate after descending from the North Table Mountain trails. The outdoor grounds feature a permanent stage that hosts free weekly live music throughout the summer, alongside larger annual music festivals such as Goldengrass, Golden Days, and WanderFest. A rotating lineup of local food trucks parks on-site daily, offering a diverse culinary accompaniment to the beers, with choices ranging from street tacos to gourmet sandwiches. Fire pits are scattered across the gravel and grassy areas, providing warmth as the sun dips behind the foothills and the evening wind carries the scent of sweet malt and damp earth.
Ride the singletrack on North Table Mountain directly to the beer garden, then grab a pint of Golden Haze and catch a free live set on the outdoor stage.
